Abuja to host international expo on transformation agenda

Abuja to host international expo on transformation agenda

President Goodluck Jonathan has given approval for the hosting of an international exhibition on the gains of the transformation agenda of his administration within the last four years, covering key sectors of the economy in Abuja.
The President said the essence of the exhibition which he is billed to declare open on December 18, is to bring the milestone achievements of the last four years to a clear perspective to the nation and the international community through graphic and pictorial displays and presentations.
Special adviser to the president on social development and special duties, Mrs. Sarah Pane, told reporters Wednesday in Abuja that the exhibition as approved by the president, would give the right, not only to know, but equip the targeted audience so that they can make decisions and contributions to any national discourse based on knowledge.
She also inaugurated a 23-man planning committee headed by Malam Ari Isa Mohammed of the FCTA for the exhibition with the Department of State Security Service (DSS), Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA) among others forming part of the committee.
Pane noted that government, in the last four years, has made significant strides towards the transformation of the country but lamented that criticising the government has become a major industry that is used to gauge the international rationality of social commentators.
“While it was more important for government to provide goods and services to its people, it was also important that the people were well-informed about the activities of government to enable them express opinions that should influence further government action. An imperative has emerged to find practical and functional intervention machinery that will close the widening gap between the performance of government and the perception of people in concrete terms,” she said.
